Abstract

Breast cancer is the most prevalent form of female cancer. While most cases are sporadic and non-hereditary, the identification of susceptible individuals is of great value in the current context. The inclusion of genetic counseling and testing is an important demand as it plays a crucial role in the research and prevention of hereditary breast cancer. It enables the detection of pathogenic variants, risk assessment, and personalized decision-making for patients and their families, according to the diagnosis. Identifying patients carrying mutations indicative of hereditary cancer predisposition syndromes not only aids in preventive planning but also informs therapeutic strategies, as personalized therapies are currently available for patients with specific mutations.
